True story – a few months ago I got braces, and I haven’t posted since because I hate the way I look. It’s pretty sad because I’ve shot plenty of outfits, but I haven’t been able to bring myself to post them. I feel like my whole face looks different. My mouth definitely does, and it’s just too weird. So I’ve been staring at these photos on and off for months, wondering what to do. I straight up contemplated giving up blogging for the next year and half, but the problem is I like it too much and I’m not eager to quit. So I’ve concluded that I have to suck it up and deal with my new look if I want to keep going. This isn’t easy for me because I’m image conscious (duh!) and I feel so awkward with braces – they’re ugly, and my mouth looks all poofy, and I feel like I’m 12 years old. PLUS if I want to get glammed up and wear lipstick, it draws even more attention to the problem. And that’s just the superficial side of things – I’m not even addressing all the pain and discomfort at this point! That being said, I’m absolutely loving what’s new this spring, and I don’t want to miss out on the fun…
I know I’ve blogged about this before, but I tend to live in maxi dresses come spring. It’s a funny thing cause I’m super short, and tons of people will tell you petite girls shouldn’t wear maxis, but I couldn’t disagree more. I love them and find them 100% flattering…a maxi dress will actually make you look taller, especially if worn with heels. This one from H&M is unfortunately sold out, but here’s a similar affordably priced option! Style it with a statement making pearl choker and you’re good to go.
I absolutely love this top and skirt combo! I bought them separately but around the same time, and after the fact thought about pairing them. The top is really soft and flowy, but on my petite frame it absolutely needs to be tucked in, especially since the bell sleeve offers a lot of volume. (Note that bell sleeves are majorly trending right now.) The skirt is simple but striking due to the vivid floral print, and midi skirts are a personal fave. This is a great weekend look for running around town.
Stripes are always big for spring. They’re classic, and truly one of my favorite prints. When I saw these easy, lightweight wrap pants by Free People, I knew I had to have them. Since they’re technically cropped, the length was perfect, which is a huge bonus for short girls. I love pairing stripes with red for a bold, chic effect. Although my top is old, here’s a similar super cute option.
These are just a few of the looks I’ve been digging this spring. Now that the weather is finally warming up, I can’t wait to start shooting more fair weather styles. And since I’m finally talking about my braces, I should be posting more frequently. I have a lot on my mind that I’d like to blog about, so I hope to see you all soon! Xoxo
Luisa! You are a beautiful girl so nothing can change that. Not even braces. You look the same to me and I’m glad to see you back to blogging. Be confident and the time will fly by so fast! Love your picks for spring 🙂 looking forward to seeing some more..
