Maxi Dress Madness

I’m a huge fan of maxi dresses as it is, but since getting pregnant, I can’t get enough of them.  They’re super comfy and flattering (between the sumer heat and my growing belly).  This one (like most of my preggo clothes) is from H&M, and due to the drapey, voluminous style, I only had to size up to a 4 for it to fit comfortably.  At this rate I’ll probably be able to wear many of my pregnancy purchases even after giving birth – so much better than investing in a bunch of maternity clothes I’ll never wear again!!  I wore this dress recently to dinner with family and friends…

Casual Day Trippin | Lake Arrowhead

Lake Arrowhead is my home away from home.  It’s a picturesque mountain town, nestled high in the San Bernardino Mountains, built around a crystal clear natural lake.  It’s only a 45 minute drive from my house but it feels a world away.  The geography is completely different, largely due to its 5100+ ft elevation.  There are no palm trees in Arrowhead – instead the landscape is speckled with pines, cedar, and dogwood…it doesn’t look like the California you see in pictures!  Some of you might know it from the 1998 Parent Trap remake, as many of the scenes were filmed there.

Fancy Yachts & Paradise Palms

Sorry for the delay on this post!!  I’ve been hosting a bunch of family since last weekend and things have been hectic.  This is another look from my trip to the harbor with hubby.  It was truly such a pleasant staycation.  After soaking in the sunset by the water, we grabbed a late dinner downtown.  San Pedro is a really cute town with a lot of history and diversity.

Down By The Waterside

In a recent post for Urban Darling I mentioned that I’d been planning a trip to Tulum earlier this year.  Unfortunately, when I found out I was pregnant, the trip was pretty much nixed due to Zika.  Plus we realized we could really stand to save the money.  Although I didn’t get my fabulous tropical vacation, we did spend this past weekend down by the water.  We spent one day exploring San Pedro, LA’s original port city, and another day visiting family in quaint Manhattan Beach.  These pictures were snapped around the harbor in San Pedro.  We stayed at the Double Tree right on the marina…it was very comfortable and picturesque.

My Pregnancy Survival Kit

Just last week I posted a travel packing survival guide via Urban Darling.  It was the first in a stylish series to gear people up for summer vacation.  I had so much fun sharing my tips that it inspired me to create this pregnancy survival guide.  Not to mention, I have several friends who are pregnant (or trying to get pregnant) right now, so I figured this post might come in handy.  I’m now over halfway through this crazy pregnancy and this is what’s worked for me along the way.  Note that none of these companies are paying me and this is NOT an ad, it’s my honest input and advice.

Olly Essential Prenatal Vitamins: Almost immediately upon discovering I was pregnant, my husband insisted we pick up some prenatal vitamins.  I was so clueless about pregnancy that the thought hadn’t even crossed my mind.  I’m not a fan of vitamins in general, because I tend to to eat well (isn’t that enough?), and I hate swallowing horse pills.  I was so glad when we popped into Target and I discovered these tasty chewable prenatals.  Instead of a disgusting horse pill I get a sweet little treat after breakfast every morning.  They were approved by my OB as well, so I know baby is getting what she needs.16821442 Continue reading

Breezy Dresses & Difficult Confessions

First and foremost, I’d like to apologize for the ridiculous length of this post.  I would not be able to say what I need to say and have it read any shorter.  So on that note, thank you if you take the time to read it through.  It hasn’t been easy for me to figure out how to talk about this, and I know that some who read it might not understand or agree.  But what no one can deny are my own very personal, valid feelings.  This has been my reality the last few months and for a while life was grim.  I know there are other women out there like me, because when I first found out I was pregnant I googled it (pregnant and don’t want kids).  I admit it didn’t make me feel any better.  If anything it induced a sense of panic and made me feel a million times worse.
