This next look is not exactly a dress – it’s more like a maxi skirt with a crop top. However, when the top and bottom match (or complement one another), it’s often referred to as a two-piece dress. This outfit didn’t come as a set, but I knew the items would pair well. Dusty blue with white is a classic color combo, and I love the contrasting textures. I wanted to showcase this variation on a traditional maxi dress because the “two-piece dress” is very in right now. It’s a great option for a vacation getaway, or in my case, something as simple as brunch with friends. I love that dressing up is part of my job – and there’s nothing wrong with dressing up for everyday events no matter who you are and what you do!

Happy May Day | Month Of Maxis
Did you know that May 1st is historically referred to as May Day? Though it’s not widely celebrated in the U.S., May Day is a traditional spring holiday in many cultures. It’s origins date back to ancient Rome, where they marked the date with a festival to honor the upcoming summer season. May is an absolutely beautiful time here in So Cal because we have so much incredible foliage in bloom. Not to mention the weather is perfect – not too hot, not too cold, and there’s always a warm breeze across the air. That being said, I’m SO EXCITED to to announce a fun little campaign I’m running for the month of May. It’s the perfect time of year for a beautiful maxi dress and I can’t even tell you how much I love maxis. They’re fluid and elegant, modest yet sexy, and oh so flattering for a variety of body types. I love how a maxi dress makes a statement with just a single article of clothing. As you might imagine, I own quite a few, so I’ve had this idea brewing for a while… I thought it would be fun to dedicate an entire month to just wearing maxis, and I plan to feature all of my favorites on the blog throughout the month, beginning with this pretty little floral dress from Express.
On The Way To Old Baldy
I’ve blogged before about Mount San Antonio, the highest peak in Southern California, standing tall at 10,064 feet. I live in the suburbs outside LA right at the base of this lovely mountain, more affectionately known as Mount Baldy. It’s a 20 minute drive from my house to Mount Baldy Lodge, where you can grab a bite to eat or rent a cabin for your weekend getaway. Drive a bit farther and you’ll enter the Angeles National Forest where you can hike for miles along a mountain stream. Keep going and eventually you’ll reach the ski lifts – great for a quick ski day after a winter snowfall. Because it’s so very close I head to Baldy often. Usually for lunch at the lodge on their outdoor patio (or inside near the fire if it’s wintertime). When the weather is good I’ll hike the famed Ice House Canyon Trail, though I’ve never made it the full eight miles, not just because the hike is long but also because it’s a strenuous uphill battle. On this particular day I was heading up to the lodge for lunch when I was struck by beautiful yellow flowers covering the mountainside. We were blessed with heavy rainfall this past winter, which has brought so much color to our desert landscape.
Fun With Fringe & Faux Fur
I’m approaching 6 months pregnant now and my belly has definitely started to grow. This is a moment I always dreaded as a worst fear. Every time anyone ever asked me about babies, I would think please no, my body just isn’t made for that…
Valentine’s Day Outfit Inspo Lookbook
Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and I know most people make plans for the occasion, I wanted to offer three different perspectives on potential outfit combos. These looks work whether for a first date, dinner with your longtime significant other, or even a girls’ night celebration. Which one would you go for? I guess it depends on the venue, and of course your personal preferences. I have plans for dinner with my hubby, and will likely opt for something along the lines of the “fun & flirty” floral dress. Though honestly, I LOVE all these looks!!
