Two-Piece Chic In Chambray

This next look is not exactly a dress – it’s more like a maxi skirt with a crop top. However, when the top and bottom match (or complement one another), it’s often referred to as a two-piece dress.  This outfit didn’t come as a set, but I knew the items would pair well. Dusty blue with white is a classic color combo, and I love the contrasting textures. I wanted to showcase this variation on a traditional maxi dress because the “two-piece dress” is very in right now.  It’s a great option for a vacation getaway, or in my case, something as simple as brunch with friends.  I love that dressing up is part of my job – and there’s nothing wrong with dressing up for everyday events no matter who you are and what you do!

OTK Boot Obsession

I am seriously obsessed with boots.  Living in So Cal, where the weather is warm most of the year, I don’t get to wear them as much as I’d like…but when winter rolls around I pretty much ignore all my other shoes.  Our coldest months tend to be January and February, so now is my time to make the most of it.  Being short, I own a lot of ankle boots (or booties) that fit more like shoes and don’t cut my leg in an awkward place.  I do struggle more with mid-calf styles.  However, I absolutely LOVE over-the-knee boots.  My obsession with OTK boots began several years back, when they first started trending really hard.  I loved the badass vibe they evoked, but wasn’t so sure that they’d work for me given my height.  Shopping online, I spotted a pair from Report that looked totally rock-and-roll (and way more expensive than they actually were), so I took the risk and ordered them.  It was probably one of the best purchases I ever made, as I couldn’t love those boots more (pictured below).  I even wore them when I competed on air for the title of Macy’s Next Style Star!

Winter To Spring Transitional Style

DSC01855

The weather in So Cal has been kind of crazy lately.  Just two weeks ago it was cold and rainy and even snowing in some parts.  Now our high is peaking close to 90!!  Overall though, spring is easily So Cal’s most beautiful season.  Once the weather levels off, temperatures tend towards ideal (70-ish) with a warm spring breeze, and of course flowers are blooming everywhere.  The foliage here is not to be beat…even the weeds are pretty, lol.  During this season it’s not quite warm enough for summer clothes, but a lightweight knit would do perfectly.  I spotted this slightly cropped, oversized sweater at H&M a few weeks ago and knew I had to have it…I love the silhouette and the embellished neckline! Here I paired it with a (super old) printed maxi and some wedge gladiator sandals that I’ve had for years and absolutely love.  The jewelry is by JewelMint (i.e. cute and affordable).  This look was shot strolling around my local neighborhood at the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains…
