I am seriously obsessed with boots. Living in So Cal, where the weather is warm most of the year, I don’t get to wear them as much as I’d like…but when winter rolls around I pretty much ignore all my other shoes. Our coldest months tend to be January and February, so now is my time to make the most of it. Being short, I own a lot of ankle boots (or booties) that fit more like shoes and don’t cut my leg in an awkward place. I do struggle more with mid-calf styles. However, I absolutely LOVE over-the-knee boots. My obsession with OTK boots began several years back, when they first started trending really hard. I loved the badass vibe they evoked, but wasn’t so sure that they’d work for me given my height. Shopping online, I spotted a pair from Report that looked totally rock-and-roll (and way more expensive than they actually were), so I took the risk and ordered them. It was probably one of the best purchases I ever made, as I couldn’t love those boots more (pictured below). I even wore them when I competed on air for the title of Macy’s Next Style Star!

Vacation Packing For Florida
I’m heading off to Florida again tomorrow night! To be honest, my dad is not in the best of health, so he asked me to fly back for another visit (I was just there in March). But at least this time he’s out of the hospital and looking forward to enjoying some time with me and my hubby. Florida is not a traditional vacation for me since I was born and raised there (in a tiny beach town halfway between Miami and Palm Beach). But it’s still a nice resorty area and I will definitely sneak in some time for relaxation and meals with old friends. Traveling there at this time of year is always a bit of a challenge because it will be SUPER hot and SUPER humid. When I was there in March it was lovely, but not so for the end of May. Hence I’ll be packing a lot of lightweight, airy pieces and of course a swimsuit or two…
~ OUTFITS ~
We’ll be there exactly one week so I don’t need to bring a ton of stuff, but there are some key pieces I wouldn’t do without. I just scooped up this boxy printed crop top at H&M. It’s from the Conscious Collection and the material is super soft and light. I’ll probably pair it with some crochet shorts or slouchy cropped joggers. I’m also in love with the kimono/tank combo I scored at Kohl’s last month. Such a pretty print to pair with denim cutoffs (or simply throw the kimono over your swimsuit)! And of course a resort vacation wouldn’t be complete without at least one maxi dress. Stripes are a classic choice. This dress is great because it’s loose and airy. A bikini is an obvious must, and I love this floral embroidered suit from Topshop. I also bought this adorable palm print sundress from H&M. The fit is lovely, and it’s a perfect Florida piece that I’m really looking forward to wearing.
~ ACCESSORIES ~
I try to be smart about accessories, especially for shorter trips. No need to bring more than three pairs of shoes and two handbags, if you choose wisely. For this trip I’ll definitely bring my strappy black gladiators, some trendy flat espadrilles, and a nice neutral wedge. Between the three, I’ll have shoe options for all of my outfits! I’ll bring one handbag in a pop of color and the Rebecca Minkoff MAB is a great choice. It’s classic, and big enough for all my stuff, so this is probably the purse I’ll carry on my flight. Then I only have to worry about packing a smaller bag, and I like the idea of a leopard crossbody. The leopard is essentially neutral, but a little more exciting, and the small size makes is easy to dress up for an evening out. Of course I can’t forget sunglasses, which are a must no matter where I go. I love love love two-tone sunglasses in black and white because I feel like they go with everything. This pair is beyond cute! I always take my grey suede DVF luggage everywhere I go. That set is sold out now, but I absolutely adore this option, also by DVF. I might have to scoop it up as a back-up!
Stay tuned, because I’ll make an effort to shoot most of these looks while I’m there, and I’ll definitely post what I’ve got when I get back 🙂
Tuesday Shoeday: Festival Style With Vince Camuto
As if you haven’t already heard enough about it, right now is “Festival Season”. For anyone who doesn’t know, festival season refers to the spring/summer barrage of (outdoor) music festivals running wild across the country. The most popular of these is Coachella, which takes place out in the California desert. The ideal So Cal location makes it a haven for celebrities and fashion bloggers, not to mention fashion brands. Festival style is a huge part of festival season. Some people go JUST for the fashion. And as you might guess, festival style is all about mastering the art of laid-back boho. For this edition of Tuesday Shoeday, I decided to style some festival inspired looks paired with Vince Camuto sandals.
I absolutely adore the Vince Camuto “Evel” sandal, especially in midnight blue. I think it’s a great casual chic daytime option. I love the idea of wearing this shoe with denim cut-offs and a midi-length printed kimono. A fringe crossbody bag would be the perfect handbag to complete this look. Don’t forget sunscreen and a straw hat to protect your skin for long days in the sun!! You can easily fake a tan with some golden bronzer if desired.
Dress it up at night with the Vince Camuto “Troy” sandal. This high-heeled gladiator is equal parts sexy and boho. Pair with a floral print flowing mini dress and feathery statement earrings for a boho glam party look. Don’t forget to top it off with some vampy red lipstick!
A Little Bit Boho
My style isn’t super boho, but I do love flare and wide leg jeans, so I’m pretty thrilled they’re back in style this spring. Truthfully, I wear them regardless, and as previously mentioned, I wayyyyy prefer flares over skinny jeans. People tend to think that short girls shouldn’t wear wide leg jeans, but that’s totally bogus. Yes, I usually have to have them hemmed to the right length, then I throw them on with wedges, and I actually look taller. Here I styled a pair of high-waisted, wide leg 7 Jeans that I’ve owned for years. I paired my jeans with a cropped fringe tank, a printed scarf, a floppy hat, a bucket bag, and of course wedge sandals. Obviously I live in So Cal to be wearing this outfit right now! All the elements come together in a way that’s fresh and modern, but of course with a nod to 70’s style.

A Tribute To Vince Camuto
I believe in shopping on a budget, both for myself and my clients. I prefer quality pieces, but can’t quite afford designer prices. Let’s be real, not many people can. I adore brands that offer quality at a relatively affordable price point, hence I love Vince Camuto…especially for accessories. For those of you who don’t know, the man himself passed away last week at the age of 78. He accomplished so much in his years as a designer and entrepreneur, including co-founding Nine West, and earning a lifetime achievement award in the footwear industry. Here I styled a set featuring his beautiful shoes and handbags…
I chose the stylish Trumen Heel because it’s a great option for now and later. Fringe is a huge trend for spring, and though these are technically sandals, the suede and embellishment makes them totally winter appropriate (depending on your climate). Wear now with a pair of skinny jeans and a cropped sweater layered over a flowing tank. (Top off with a coat or scarf for added warmth!) I styled this particular look with the Vince Camuto Leila Shoulder Bag. Then, when the weather warms up, you can style your Trumen heels with a printed skater dress and some fabulous cat-eye sunnies. I love this outfit paired with the gorgeous Julia Satchel. His pieces are truly chic and effortless!
What is your experience shopping Vince Camuto? Do you have any favorite pieces or wishlist items?
Lots of love to Camuto’s family during this difficult time. He will be fondly remembered by fashion people the world over ❤
